Shoulder, Elbow and Wrist Physio

Shoulder pain

Shoulder pain is a common problem in the general population and in athletes. The shoulder is a unique joint, as it is extremely mobile but also has to be very strong.

It is made up of 3 joints and the rotator cuff is the main stabilising muscle(s) acting on the glenohumeral joint. With such a complicated joint, shoulder assessment needs to be detailed and the treatment is very much individualized.

Sligo Physio Space physiotherapists are experts in assessing and treating your shoulder pain. Injuries can be from sport, overuse, lack of use, pain can be referred from the neck, issues resulting from a fall or impact, as well as post-operative rehabilitation.

Our physio’s have experience with it all. We are capable of designing rehabilitation programs to get you back to doing every day activities or to elite sporting activities.

Elbow pain

Elbow pain is predominantly an overuse injury, and is occasionally related to trauma. The elbow like the knee is a hinge joint with much less movement than the shoulder.

This doesn’t make it any easier to treat, and rehabilitation can often be slow but our physiotherapists are skilled at prescribing you the best treatment and exercise to get you back to activity and sport as quick as possible. The wrist is susceptible to fractures and sprains and tends to heal pretty quickly with physiotherapy.
