Pilates and reformer pilates at Sligo Physio Space, Ballast Quay

Exciting news! Sligo Physio Space is expanding with a new premises opening on Ballast Quay, Sligo in February 2024. We’ve been working on this project for months behind the scenes and now we’re transforming our new space into the dream home we’ve imagined for our Pilates classes.

We strongly believe that Pilates is the best form of exercise for recovery and low impact training. Not only is it proven to be effective in many clinical studies, we’ve seen first-hand the reduction in pain, improvement in mobility and conditioning benefits that reformer pilates has brought to our patients.

Now, Claire is ready to take her passion a step further by offering pilates classes at the newly larger premises for Sligo Physio Space at Ballast Quay. With a small group size of 6-8 people, these classes promise personalised attention and a communal atmosphere conducive to effective learning and practice.

Why Choose Pilates?

Pilates is more than just a fitness regimen; it’s a lifestyle choice that advocates for body awareness, core strength, and overall flexibility. It’s especially beneficial for individuals in the 30-60 age bracket who seek an engaging exercise routine that can be tailored to their specific needs and abilities.

Reformer Pilates is a highly effective and popular form of exercise that combines elements of traditional Pilates with the use of a specialised equipment called a reformer. The reformer consists of a sliding carriage, springs, straps, and various adjustable components.

During a Reformer Pilates class, individuals perform a series of controlled movements and exercises using the reformer machine. These exercises are designed to target specific muscle groups, improve flexibility, strengthen the core, enhance posture, and increase overall body strength.

One of the key benefits of Reformer Pilates is its versatility. The resistance provided by the springs on the reformer can be adjusted, making it suitable for all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. The reformer also allows for a wide range of exercises, targeting different muscle groups and providing a full-body workout.

Reformer Pilates offers numerous advantages over traditional mat-based Pilates. The use of the reformer machine provides additional support and assistance, allowing individuals to achieve proper alignment and engage muscles more effectively. The resistance provided by the springs helps to build strength and tone muscles, leading to improved body composition and increased muscle definition.

Moreover, Reformer Pilates is known for its low-impact nature, making it an excellent choice for individuals with joint issues or those recovering from injuries. The controlled movements and focus on alignment help to minimise the risk of injury while ensuring optimal results.

Whether you are looking to enhance your athletic performance, improve your posture, or simply maintain a healthy and strong physique, Reformer Pilates offers a comprehensive and enjoyable workout experience. The guidance of a certified instructor ensures proper form and technique, maximising the benefits of each session.
